Neighbor demands that the next-door dog-owning resident keep their pups inside because the neighbor's cat likes to wander into their yard: ‘I would not comply… my dogs are in their own yard’

Property disputes are common when you're sharing a street with another homeowner. That's why it's important to install fences, have your land surveyed, and have open communication with your fellow residents without becoming the local pushover.

Animals are the catalyst for many neighbor disputes, and that's usually because a resident's pet is playing on land that their owner doesn't own. Is it right for a neighbor to knowingly allow their animal access to a yard that doesn't belong to them? No, but it's even worse when that same neighbor demands that you not allow your pet outside in your yard because it inconveniences their animal. Make it make sense…

Such is the case in this next story. I'm a cat lover through and through, but like many feline parents, it's important to understand that our pets are not above others. The neighbor in this story expects the next-door resident to keep their two dogs inside because their predominantly outdoor cat wants to lounge on the resident's land.

It's important to note that the two dogs are nonviolent, but even still, the neighbor expects the resident to deprive their dogs of yard time so an outdoor cat can safely lounge in their yard. No sound-minded animal lover would place this expectation on another, so the resident starts to hatch a plan to combat this neighbor's outlandish requests. Scroll to read.
